Surgical missions

To offer cleft treatment to patients in regions where do not yet have a permanent presence, our volunteers and local doctors regularly go on surgical missions in the region. They travel to hospitals in areas with untreated patients and perform surgeries there, or check the progress of patients from prior missions. The missions are performed with a full team of the necessary professionals for anaesthesia, surgery etc., and supported by local personnel from the host hospitals. Our German organizers and specialist surgeons Dr Dr Oliver Blume and Gunther Au-Balbach, alongside anaesthetist Dr Emmanuel Munyarugero, surgeon Dr Deus Twesigye and intensive care nurse Caroline Nakyanzi from Mbarara, Uganda, as well as Dr Laurent Siborurema from Rwanda continuously go on missions in the region.

Missions to Tanzania are done by our African specialists alone, without Dr Dr Oliver Blume and Gunther Au-Balbach.

If you or a family member are in need of cleft treatment, please contact our local representative for your country to see if there is a surgical mission planned near you.
